The Federal Trade Commission anti-trust leader Mr. Henry Liu, received more than 3.3 million dollars last year. He received this amount from the beginning of the year till mid-August. He was a partner at a law firm called

Covington & Burling, and they are the ones who paid him.

His clients in this reputed law firm were Apple, JP Morgan Chase, and Visa. A new ethics filing shows this data.

Mr. Henry Liu became the director of the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Competition last month. This happened after spending 14 years at the Washington DC law firm.

The law firm’s average profits per partner were equal to 2.32 million dollars. Federal Trade Commission has not responded to the comment request yet.

Officials working at top Federal Agencies have to submit financial disclosure forms before they come into office. The documents show details of their financial assets.

They also let the government know how much law firms pay attorneys as a form of compensation and other benefits.

The matter has the potential for future complications because Covington is one of the top firms in Washington. It has a reputation for advising large companies.

The nature of Liu’s role in Covington and later on in FTC are quite contrasting.

Covington helps clients who are facing regulatory scrutiny, anti-trust lawsuits, and enforcement matters, which are more often than not headed by the FTC.

Other big clients Liu had represented during his time in Covington are SoftBank Group, Procter & Gamble, and Bayer’s U.S. affiliate.

Liu was a partner in the litigation and antitrust practice lawsuits.

U.S. FTC Director Lina Khan noticed Liu’s financial controversies (potential) last month. The Federal Trade Commission has been looking into its antitrust enforcement lately.
