Prominent Authors Including George R.R. Martin and John Grisham, Sue OpenAI Over Copyright

A trade group of prestigious authors from the United States are suing Chat GPT’s parent platform, Open AI. The writers are carrying out the legal proceedings through the Manhattan federal court. 

The group contains an extremely prestigious writer John Grisham. Jonathan Franzen, George Saunders, and Jodi Picoult are some of the other big names in the group. 

Proclaimed author and the Game of Thrones novelist Mr. George R.R. Martin is also accusing the AI platforms. He accuses Chat GPT of using his literary work without permission, as do other authors. 

The most recent addition to the group of authors is “The Lincoln Lawyer” writer, Mr

 Michael Connelly, and David Baldacci and Scott Turow, who are lawyers and novelists.

The authors filed this class action lawsuit late on Tuesday. Not just authors, the group includes source code owners, visual artists, and other AI providers. 

Open AI that is chat GPT is the parent company is Microsoft backed. Therefore open AI and Microsoft are the primary defendant parties of the lawsuit.

The open AI platform is facing similar lawsuits relating to Meta and Atability AI over using their data to train the AI systems.
